Kita Age

Kita drop-offs, transitions, and the slow goodbyes that come with them.

German kita is a world of its own: the settling-in process, the pick-up routines, the educators who know your child better than you do by week two. The transition is as much about the parents as it is about the child.

We wrote these posts during our own kita journey, from the first visit to the slow goodbye at the door. If you are in the middle of Eingewöhnung, we hope they feel like a friend who has been there.

One honest note: every kita is different, and every child settles at their own pace. Take what helps, ignore the rest, and trust the educators. They have done this hundreds of times.
